Dr. Apoorva Akalankam earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. During dental school, she gained experience in both private practice and community clinic settings, where she developed a passion for comprehensive, patient-centered care. She was actively involved in organized dentistry throughout dental school and received the Award for Excellence in Periodontics in recognition of her clinical knowledge in the field.

Dr. Akalankam is especially passionate about caring for underserved communities and patients with disabilities. Her experiences working with diverse patient populations have reinforced the importance of accessible, compassionate dentistry and understanding each patient’s individual needs. She strives to create a welcoming environment where every patient feels heard, comfortable, and confident in their care. She is committed to lifelong learning and continuing education to continually expand her clinical skills and provide high-quality, personalized treatment.

A true Midwesterner at heart, Dr. Akalankam is excited to call Chicago home and explore all that the city has to offer. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys taking dance classes, ranking new restaurants on Beli, experimenting with new recipes, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
