Welcome Mikyaila “Mikki” Jaramillo! Our newest addition to the General Dentistry team at Family Dental Care.

Dr. Jaramillo received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University, Indianapolis, IN.

While at Indiana University School of Dentistry, she received “Most Outstanding Presentation in Clinical Research” at the 26th Hinman Student Research Symposium Awards for her presentation, “ACE2 Expression in Symptomatic COVID-19 Patients.”

Dr. Jaramillo is grateful to her IUSD mentors, Dr. Mythily Srinivasan, and Dr. Bruzzaniti, Director of Student Research. “I am so grateful to get to work with them and the IUSD research community,” she said.

Her extensive research experience at Indiana Univery, Notre Dame, Wake Forest and others exemplifies her dedication to the biomedical field and care for humanity.

Outside of classroom, Dr. Jaramillo made an equally impressive impact at the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties as a youth sports and dance instructor. She has also designed class plans for sports, ballet, tap and jazz classes and choreographed and presented performances for several classes.

Some of her many honors and awards include the AADOCR Student Research Fellowship (American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research), Women’s History Month Recognition Award (Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis), Henry Lancaster Memorial Scholarship (Indiana University School of Dentistry), Steven L. Bricker Award (Indiana University School of Dentistry), and Most Outstanding Presentation in Clinical Research (Hinman Student Research Symposium, University of Tennessee).

• Designed class plans for sports, ballet, tap, and jazz classes for ages 3 to 16
• Instructed classes of 20 students in beginning to intermediate levels of dance
• Choreographed and presented performances for parents at end of each academic term
